Finally Found a Use for paulmc.org…

After much deliberation and thought, and very little planning, I’ve decided to do some freelance web-design and PC repair. So my site is now going to be a marketing tool for my new “business”. (It’s not a business in the sense that I expect to make a living solely from it, but I do hope to make enough to pay off my credit card, with some left over for some new gadgets.) I’ll be keeping the day job and I’ll do this in my spare time.

This web design idea came about more by accident than anything else. Since been asked to do the website for The Stables, I’ve been asked to do a website for a local band, a local DJ and our sister bar, The Sports Bar in UL. Although the last 2 aren’t confirmed as of yet, that’s still 4 websites on the go, without even having to go looking for work. I figure that for a small outlay in time and effort, I can make a reasonable job of them. So today, I ordered some business cards, and I’ll start working on updating my homepage to reflect the new direction I’m taking.

As I’m not naive enough to expect the world and their dog to beat a path to my door looking for websites, I’ll also do a bit of PC repair on the side. Considering that I spent 6 months with Dell Technical Support, and nearly 2 years with Sony Vaio Support, I think I can sort out most problems that people come across. And if I do come across a problem that stumps me, there’s always my best friend: Google.

You never know, it might work out, and if it doesn’t, the business cards only set me back €10!
