Because it was my birthday recently, I decided to treat myself to some DVD’s and books. So off I went to my usual online haunts and came across The Genius Factory.
“Ahhh”, I said, “that looks interesting. Maybe this will shed some light on the nature versus nurture argument”. So out comes my credit card, and Bob’s your uncle, said book is ordered along with a few others.
Several days pass and my items start to arrive. I opened the last parcel, took out the invoice. “Ahhh”, I said, (I say that a lot), “I’ve been looking forward to reading this one.” I checked the price listed on the invoice. It looks correct. I then proceed to open the slot containing the book. And as you may have already guessed, it’s not The Genius Factory.
I was shocked. I started to tremble. I was on the verge of tears. I had to sit down before I fell down. It’s hard to admit, but I am now the proud owner of “Britney Spears: An Unauthorised Biography”.
I don’t think that you could get further from a genius factory if you tried.
At least two good things have come out of this:
- I have the answer to the question that led me to buying the book in the first place. It’s definitely nature.
- And somewhere, a very distressed parent is trying to explain to their eleven year old daughter, what a sperm bank is, and how deposits are made.
