Six Apart have announced that their blogging platform, Movable Type, has been open-sourced. Although there’s always been a free, as in beer, version available, this announcement means that MT is now Free – as in speech.
Considering that WordPress and other blogging platforms have been open source for quite a while, Six Apart are a bit late joining the party. Nonetheless, it’s good for the open source community to have another high profile project sign up to the GPL.
