Did you see a bright flash in the sky about 12:30am Sunday night?
According to the BBC, a meteor entered the atmosphere over Ireland. Classed as a fireball, (i.e. brighter than Venus in the night sky), it was visible from Donegal to Cork.
As there have only been two meteorites found in Ireland in the 20th century, it would be pretty cool to find this one.
To help find where it may have landed, Astronomy Ireland are looking for witness reports. If you saw this fireball, head over their and fill in their Fireball Report Form.

A red fireball travelling fast in the sky over Raheny heading towards Howth over by the East coast of Dublin. This was seen on Thursday night at 10.15pm the 1st October 09. This was witnessed by 3 other people in my back garden.
I did see two fireballs coming all the way up from the sky sunday or monday night I cannot re-collect and it was around 11pm. The bright light came into my room although the blinds were down and then I looked outside the window to find it fade-off and fall somewhere in Waterford City Centre.
You should contact Astronomy Ireland. They’re always interested in every report like this they can get.
